I love Steampunk. Something about the aesthetic just floors me and I find myself wanting to both sit and admire the designs people create and to design something of my own.
Today, I'm sharing some of my favorite Steampunk things.
We'll start with a painting.
A steampunk version of The Lady of Shalott. I came across this researching illustrations for a future post and just had to share it.
Combining the beautiful with the functional. Making technology beautiful seems to be a Steampunk must. Or maybe it's just that there are so many artists attracted to Steampunk.
Steampunk music. There is so much to love about Abney Park, this video shows a lot of it.

It's March?
Holy Carp! Where did the time go? What happened to February? I'm not ready for January to be over yet! Eep!
Ok, so, I've been a little busy. Between designing, writing and proofing the newsletter for my Mom's team (it's very cool but not allowed to be seen outside the company), reading review copies for book reviews (which are coming! I promise!), designing a hoodie for a friend, designing corsets for myself a couple other lovely young ladies, I've also gotten addicted to a new website.
Spoonflower is possibly one of the coolest sites I've come across in a long time. A quick search for "geek" fabrics brings up all sorts of cool stuff.
Such as:
Here's one of mine:
People occasionally post pictures of things they made with the fabric and it's so much fun. I could spend several thousands dollars on the site and not make a dent in what I want to purchase. I'm considering selling plasma to fund my fabric habit.
So, more posts coming soon! I promise! With pictures of completed projects!

Art Discussion
I read about a dozen other blogs, give or take a couple, every day. Some are for fun, some are political, some are religious. I don't always agree with everything but it certainly makes for interesting discussions.
One of my favorite bloggers writes as The Anchoress. Her name is Elizabeth Scalia and, while I don't always agree with her, I always learn something. I also think she has some of the nicest, best educated commenters I've encountered in the blogosphere.
The discussion on a post about an art review, art reviewer and Norman Rockwell intrigued me and I just had to share.
There's too much to simply excerpt and some of the best lines are in the comments.
Go. Read. Enjoy.
